How to Calculate Retirement Pension in Spain

Learn how to calculate your retirement pension: regulatory base, percentage by years contributed and minimum pension.

The retirement pension in Spain depends on years contributed and your average contribution base. In this guide we explain how the percentage is calculated, the regulatory base and the minimum pension guaranteed by Social Security.

1 You need at least 15 years contributed

To be entitled to a pension you need a minimum of 15 years contributed, of which at least 2 must be in the last 15 years.

2 The percentage by years

At 15 years you get 50%. Each additional year up to 25 adds 0.25%. From 25 to 35 years, each adds 2.5%. From 35 years you reach 100%.

3 Calculate the regulatory base

The regulatory base is your average contribution base divided by 12. The monthly pension is the regulatory base multiplied by the percentage.
