Learn how to calculate the final price and savings of a discount, with formulas, examples and a free calculator.

In sales and promotions it is key to know what you will really pay. We explain how to calculate the discount amount, the savings and the final price, with practical examples.

1 Calculate the discount amount

Multiply the original price by the discount percentage and divide by 100: (price × discount) ÷ 100.

2 Calculate the savings

The savings are exactly the amount you just calculated. For example, on €120 with 30%: (120 × 30) ÷ 100 = €36 savings.

3 Calculate the final price

Subtract the discount amount from the original price. Following the example: 120 − 36 = €84 final price.

4 Use the calculator

With the discount calculator you only enter the original price and the percentage, and you get the savings and the final price instantly.
